I didn’t get all the way through your presentation, because my own access has been intermittent since our big power outage due to storms back in June. I saw one thing that stuck out, though – “use common sense”. I’d HEAVILY emphasize that! Make sure your employees aren’t putting personal, sensitive, or just plain stupid stuff onto social media, and make sure your employees know that if they DO post potentially harmful or embarrassing stuff (or have in the past), they are STILL responsible for it! (Yes, if you posted pictures of yourself doing something stupid back in college, it can – and WILL – affect your possible future hiring!)
I would also make clear to your larger corporate clients that social media IS important, not just to marketing and sales, but also to your security people. My former employer was VERY slow on securing Internet access, despite trying to push that access for clients to check their accounts. The problem was that new accounts was very Internet “hip”, while the security folk were stuck back in the 1970s.
Good stuff – I’d love to see the final presentation with your voice-over. Especially with that judge’s ultra-close-up picture!
John, thank you for your excellent response! I am going to be presenting in this issue in a few weeks and it should be videoed – ill post the video once it comes out!
