If only we could show the sense of unity and compassion every day, as was shown by so many on that terrible September morning. If only our politicians could serve with the same sense of selflessness that the 343 brave firefighters showed when they ran into those burning buildings. If only we could stand with all the peoples of this world, and remember the sacrifice not only of American lives, but of British, Canadian, French, Dominican, and other countries’ lives who also perished that morning.
Forgive me my solemnity this morning, I have friends in harm’s way in Afghanistan. If only they didn’t need to be there….
