Earlier today I attended a monthly committee meeting to discuss the current cybersecurity threat landscape. This is a small group that meets around a conference table, somewhat informally, and consists of members of federal and state law enforcement as well as a few individuals in the private sector who are involved in cybersecurity. Those of us in the private sector generally adhere to the old adage that you have two ears and one mouth for a reason.
What is important to know is, if this happens to your business, the FBI has had some limited success in capturing the funds in cases where they are brought in within a day or two of the money being wired. Obviously, the sooner they get involved, the better the chances are, so do not delay.
